Description & features

Plugline Multi-Size Manhole Pipe Test Plugs are the primary solution for the professional validation of sewer manholes. Engineered for both air and water (hydrostatic) testing, these plugs ensure that manhole structures are completely watertight and free from environmental infiltration. They are especially effective in active systems where maintaining service is critical, as they allow work to proceed while flow is continued or diverted.

Key Features

  • Dual Testing Compatibility: Fully optimized for both pneumatic (air) and hydrostatic (water) pressure tests to meet rigorous municipal standards.
  • Reinforced rubber construction: size range 600 — 1050 mm, back pressure 0,5 bar, operating temperature −40 to 70 °C, Quick Coupling / Schrader air connection.
  • Integrated Bypass Port: Allows for the continuous diversion of sewage or stormwater, preventing system backups during the testing or repair phase.
  • Wide Expansion Range: The multi-size design enables a single plug to seal various manhole diameters, providing maximum field flexibility.
  • Heavy-Duty Vulcanized Rubber: Constructed from high-grade, reinforced materials designed to withstand the corrosive and abrasive nature of sewage environments.
  • Secure Anchor Points: Equipped with robust handling features to ensure the plug remains stable and safe under high-pressure testing conditions.

Advantages

  • Non-Disruptive Testing: Enables technicians to certify manhole integrity without shutting down entire sections of the network.
  • Accurate Leak Identification: Provides a reliable method for pinpointing cracks or joint failures in the manhole chamber and connecting benching.
  • Reduced Equipment Costs: The adjustable size range reduces the necessity for a large inventory of different-sized plugs.
  • Enhanced Site Safety: Provides a high-friction, secure seal that protects workers from accidental flow surges during maintenance.

Application Areas

  • Sewage System Audits: Used by utility contractors to conduct routine vacuum or pressure tests on aging manhole infrastructure.
  • New Infrastructure Commissioning: The standard tool for verifying the seal of newly installed manholes before they are handed over to the city.
  • Trenchless Repairs: Ideal for isolating manholes during the installation of liners or structural coatings while bypassing active flow.
  • Infiltration Studies: Used to detect and stop groundwater from entering the sewage system through compromised manhole walls.

Plugline Multi-Size Manhole Pipe Test Plugs offer the specialized durability and flow-management features required to ensure municipal sewage networks remain efficient, safe, and leak-free.

Recommended deployment procedure

Plugline Inflatable Pipe Stoppers are used for sealing, blocking and pressure testing pipework. Follow the procedure below for safe installation and removal.

01
Inspect

Verify each stopper for surface defects. Confirm reference matches purchase order. Pre-test in a clean environment to nominal 0.5 bar.

02
Position

Insert deflated. Place at least two pipe-diameters inside the bore. Secure the connector hose to the inflation valve.

03
Inflate

Inflate to nominal pressure indicated on the datasheet. Hold for 60 seconds and verify seal under audible test.

04
Test

Perform line test per EN 1610 or local code. Record drop, hold time, ambient temperature.

05
Recover

Deflate fully before withdrawal. Inspect for damage. Stopper may be reused for up to 200 cycles under nominal conditions.
