ALL MODELSWhat is a pipe joint tester?▼
A pipe joint tester checks individual pipe joints for leaks instead of pressure-testing the whole line. Two inflatable end elements straddle the joint, and the sealed chamber between them is pressurised - so a leak shows up exactly at that joint. Used on sewers, pipelines, drainage systems and gullies.
How does hydrostatic joint testing work?▼
The tester is positioned at the joint, both end bladders are inflated - with working pressures up to 55 bar depending on the model - to seal the section, and the test chamber between them is pressurised with water or air at joint test pressures up to 50 bar. A stable gauge reading means the joint is tight; a pressure drop localises the leak immediately.
Why test joints instead of the whole pipeline?▼
Because most leaks happen at joints. Testing joint by joint finds the exact failure point without excavating or draining long sections, and is the fast way to verify new installations and repairs before handover.
What sizes do Plugline Joint Testers cover?▼
The range covers pipe diameters from 100 mm up to 4000 mm across 135 sizes, in NR rubber with Kevlar reinforcement. Working pressures reach up to 55 bar (inflate) and joint test pressures up to 50 bar (test) depending on the model - the exact table is on the product page.
Can I use a joint tester on concrete pipes?▼
Yes - concrete, PVC, steel and clay pipes are all standard applications. The rubber elements seal against rough internal surfaces, which is why joint testers are common on concrete sewer mains and culverts.
