What is an inflatable gas balloon plug?▼

An inflatable pipe plug made of special chemical-resistant rubber, designed to block gas pipelines and lines carrying aggressive media during maintenance and repairs. It works like a standard inflatable stopper - insert, inflate, seal - but the material is built for chemical exposure.

Can inflatable plugs be used in gas pipelines?▼

Yes - but only the chemical-resistant series. Standard natural-rubber stoppers are not suitable for gas, oil or aggressive chemicals; the Gas Balloon Plug series uses EPDM-based chemical-resistant rubber made for exactly these media.

Are gas balloon plugs safe to use?▼

Used within their ratings, yes: inflate at 0.5 bar, respect the 0.2-0.3 bar back-pressure limit, and follow gas-work procedures - purge and monitor the line, and never exceed the rated pressures. For a specific medium or concentration, ask our engineers before ordering.

What sizes do Gas Balloon Plugs cover?▼

The series covers pipe diameters from 250 mm up to 3000 mm, with a 0.5 bar working pressure and 0.2/0.3 bar back pressure. The model-by-model size table is on the product page.

How is a gas balloon plug different from a standard pipe stopper?▼

Two things: the rubber compound (special chemical-resistant EPDM-based material instead of NR) and the pressure envelope (a gentler 0.5 bar working pressure). Geometry and handling are the same, so crews already using Plugline stoppers need no new training.
