Description & features

Plugline Inflatable Pillow Pipe Stoppers are highly flexible sealing solutions designed primarily for obstructing flow in sewers and storm drains. Their unique, adaptable shape allows them to be used as standalone blocks or combined with pillow test plugs to conduct comprehensive pipeline leak detection. Engineered for maximum maneuverability, these stoppers are the preferred choice for technicians working with standard municipal infrastructure.

Key Features

  • Exceptional Flexibility: The "pillow" design allows these stoppers to be folded and compressed, making them easy to insert into sewers through standard gullies and narrow manholes.
  • NR/SBR construction: size range 600 — 2800 mm, working pressure 0,5 — 1,0 bar, back pressure 0,2 — 0,5 bar, operating temperature −20 to 80 °C, Quick Coupling / Schrader air connection.
  • Leak Testing Integration: Can be used in tandem with pillow test plugs to create an isolated chamber for professional air and water pressure testing.
  • High-Volume Sealing: Optimized for sealing large-diameter storm drains and sewer systems effectively while maintaining a lightweight profile.
  • Durable, Reinforced Build: Constructed from high-strength materials resistant to the abrasive environments typically found in drainage networks.
  • Adaptable Fit: Their flexible nature allows them to conform to minor pipe irregularities, ensuring a reliable, airtight seal.

Advantages

  • Easy Access: Eliminates the need for specialized entry points; these stoppers can be deployed through existing, common gullies, saving significant labor and setup time.
  • Efficient Transport: Their collapsible design makes them much easier to transport and handle compared to traditional, rigid cylindrical plugs of similar sizes.
  • Versatile Functionality: Equally effective for temporary flow obstruction during maintenance or as part of a formal pipeline integrity validation process.
  • Cost-Effective Infrastructure Management: Durable and reusable, providing long-term value for municipal and industrial maintenance teams.

Application Areas

  • Sewer & Storm Drain Maintenance: Ideal for blocking sections of city drainage systems during cleaning or structural repairs.
  • Pipeline Leak Detection: Used by professional testing crews to identify and locate compromises in municipal or industrial lines.
  • Emergency Flow Control: Provides a rapid response solution for obstructing pipelines during accidental spills or system overflows.
  • Municipal Engineering: Specifically designed for the common access constraints of urban sewer networks and gully configurations.

Plugline Inflatable Pillow Pipe Stoppers combine superior flexibility with professional-grade sealing power, making them the most practical solution for navigating and securing modern drainage infrastructure.

Recommended deployment procedure

Plugline Inflatable Pipe Stoppers are used for sealing, blocking and pressure testing pipework. Follow the procedure below for safe installation and removal.

01
Inspect

Verify each stopper for surface defects. Confirm reference matches purchase order. Pre-test in a clean environment to nominal 0.5 bar.

02
Position

Insert deflated. Place at least two pipe-diameters inside the bore. Secure the connector hose to the inflation valve.

03
Inflate

Inflate to nominal pressure indicated on the datasheet. Hold for 60 seconds and verify seal under audible test.

04
Test

Perform line test per EN 1610 or local code. Record drop, hold time, ambient temperature.

05
Recover

Deflate fully before withdrawal. Inspect for damage. Stopper may be reused for up to 200 cycles under nominal conditions.
